The series was carefully researched and informed by serving and former 每一次的吻别1990年代初在大陆引起较大反响的“农村三部曲”（“女人命运三部曲”）电视剧之一。改编自韩志君长篇小说《命运四重奏》，曾获多个奖项。　　某个偏远山村，枣花（吴玉华）嫁给与她订有娃娃亲的葛家铜锁（王建国）后，铜锁一反婚前对她的温柔和善态度，开始处处将她刁难，枣花的一再忍受只令铜锁的行为变本加厉。无奈之下，枣花提出离婚，犹如在保守的山村扔下一枚炸弹，她成为众人口中的是非对象，将她鼓励支持的，只有葛家茂源（田成仁）老汉，新生之旅充满坎坷。
